My Name is Danielle Alvarez. I was born and raised in South Florida. I've spent the past 23 years soaking up the myriad of cultures that are Miami. I earned my bachelor's degree and am working towards my master's degree in journalism at the University of Miami, where I've had the chance to produce meaningful hard news and feature stories, covering both local and international issues.
I have been involved in the production of a live, student-run news show, where I have produced in-depth video packages and tackled breaking news. I have also worked to contribute to multiple production aspects of the hyper-local news site, GrandAveNews.com, including concept development, reporting, photography and editing. In the spring, I was chosen by UM faculty to cover the Clinton Global Initiative University and was able to interview former President Bill Clinton and ABC's Jack Tapper. And at the end of the semester, as story that I reported as part of my advance news reporting class was featured on the front page of The Miami Herald.
I spent this summer interning with the Miami New Times and I am currently interning with The Miami Herald.
I am looking for an opportunity to put my multimedia reporting skills to work and to produce honorable coverage that will hopefully challenge the many hardships facing our nation and world today.
